15 years of openness and community
For Rita Abrahamsen, the Jewish Cultural Festival has always been about more than concerts and performances. It has been about opening doors, building community, and making culture visible.

Small minorities – big importance
She describes why the festival is important in a larger perspective.
“It is important for a well-functioning society that small minorities like this open up and offer themselves and allow members of society to get to know each other – with emotions, atmosphere, food, drink and theater.”

Outstanding anniversary
"The Jewish Cultural Festival Trondheim is 15 years old, and that in itself is unique. I had hoped it would last forever."
She recalls that the festival began as a vision, but grew through work and support.

Making the culture known
"When I started this festival, it was important to me that Jewish culture became known in Norway, and not least, of course, in Trondheim."
From Krakow with love
The inspiration was a visit to Poland.
"If Krakow can have a really big Jewish cultural festival, then Trondheim must be able to have a slightly smaller one."

A common lift
She concludes by pointing to the interaction between volunteers, partners and the audience. It is this community that has given life to the festival for fifteen years.
This year's festival once again showed that openness and community are at the very core of the festival. The fact that the audience returns year after year confirms that this message resonates widely and has a lasting impact in Trondheim.
