Mames Babegenush was established in 2004 in Copenhagen, and has achieved both national and international recognition for their deep roots in instrumental Eastern European folk music. At the same time, they challenge genre boundaries and musical expressions – from classical music and jazz to Nordic folk music traditions.
Known for their captivating live performances, the band has toured Europe, North America and South America. They have released seven albums to date. Their many appearances include prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York), Gamle Scene at the Royal Theatre (Copenhagen), Bergen International Festival , Tønder Festival , Ravinia Festival (Chicago) and Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (Germany).
