Tasty Tones and Dishes: Concert with the Shira Etana Klezmer Ensemble and a Taste of Jewish Cuisine

Photographers: Mr. Yoshi, Javad Montazeri

Shira Etana Klezmer Ensemble is a klezmer band from Trøndelag that has been playing together for more than 20 years. The group plays traditional klezmer music with an ensemble consisting of violin, clarinet, accordion and percussion.

The musical focus is on the melodies and the story the music tells. The repertoire consists of dance music and Yiddish songs, with elements of religious music. The genre originated in Eastern Europe, but draws inspiration from many different musical traditions from the Balkans, Greece, Israel, Slavic musical cultures, etc.

The music is characterized by great emotions, from euphoric joy to deep melancholy, and the contrast between these extremes makes up much of the music's distinctive character. Klezmer is easy to listen to and easy to like, most likely you will also want to dance. It spreads smiles and joy, and is a joy to listen to.

After the concert, there will be a dinner with flavors from Jewish cuisine.

The senior event is a collaboration between the Cultural Department of Trondheim Municipality and the Jewish Cultural Festival Trondheim.

Requires registration.
